also making appearances. Mark Olson was not there.
A few more Olson/Louris dates added to the Tour
Section
A recording of the 2004 New Year's Eve show with Mark Olson, Gary Louris, and members of the Jayhawks, is starting to circulate, and (as of this posting) is currently available as a bit torrent at www.easytree.org and bt.etree.org. The best way to get a copy is to look for offers on the Vic-List or Bunkhouse Trading Post Yahoo Groups. (Note: Live music bootlegs should only be traded freely - never sold or paid for!)
Mark Olson / Gary Louris Reunion Tour Dates added to Tour

Lyrics & Guitar Chords added for "Betsy Dupree"
Happy belated birthday to Victoria Williams (Dec.
23rd)!
Mark Olson will be playing in Minneapolis on New Years
Eve, with Tim and Karen of the Jayhawks. Check here for all the info!
Victoria Williams will be playing McCabe's in January. Click here for all the info.
Check out this interview from the Tuscon Daily Star
where Mark talks about a potential Jayhawks reunion tour!!!

Here's another recent interview from ASU's newspaper
http://wildcat.arizona.edu/papers/98/9/04_7.html
US Tour Dates - Starting Tonight in Tuscon!!! Check out the tour section!
The Creekdippers will be playing the Louisana Folk Fest, Sept. 12th in Monroe, LA. More info as I can get a hold of it!
The latest Creekdipper record, Mystic Theater, is now available through Amazon.UK. Here's a link - Mystic Theater @ Amazon.co.uk. They also carry the import only "Creekdippin' For The First Time" compilation.
"Political Manifest", as well as the rest of the Creekdipper catalog, is now available through Paste Music. Here's a link - http://www.pastemusic.com/artist/10045
The Creekdippers' new album "Mystic Theater" is now available through Glitterhouse Records! This album is a truly collaborative effort between Victoria Williams and Mark Olson, featuring lead vocal turns by each. Hopefully this will be available soon in the US, but for now, Glitterhouse is the only way to get it. Their US shipping rates are reasonable!
Don't forget - the other new Creekdipper album, "Political Manifest" is now available through Miles of Music and House of Mercy!
The Creekdippers' new record, "Political
Manifest" has its own website at www.politicalmanifest.com.
You can read some of Mark & Vic's thoughts on the record, view lyrics,
and download some MP3 clips (these are on the lyrics page).
The Creekdippers will stop by KFAI radio in Minneapolis
Wednesday, March 24th sometime between 3pm & 6pm to appear on the
"Jackson's Juke Joint" program. At this time I'm unsure whether or
not they will perform, or if it will just be an interview. You can stream
KFAI radio through their website www.kfai.org.
In addition to "Political Manifest", Mark
Olson will have a second album, "Mystic Theater", out sometime
this Spring through Glitterhouse
Records, with US distribution hopefully sometime after that.
Added another Minneapolis date to the tour dates.
The Creekdippers will play a few shows in the
Minneapolis / St. Paul area this month, before launching their extensive
European tour. See the tour section for info.
The Creekdippers' new CD, "Political Manifest"
will be available March 23rd through Miles
of Music & House
of Mercy. You can pre-order it now through Miles of Music! To the best
of our knowledge, this will not be available in stores at this time.
There will be a series of Sweet Relief benefit concerts in April at the Troubador in Hollywood. A ton of great artists will be featured including Michelle Shocked, Grant Lee Phillips, Concrete Blonde and lots more! Check out the info at www.sweetrelief.org.
Original Creekdipper Mike "Razz" Russell has
another band, The Baptism River Ramblers, who have a great CD out called
"Bring Me A Little Water", featuring a nice mix of stripped down
folk and gospel with some instrumental numbers, some vocal numbers, some
covers, and some original pieces. It can be ordered directly through www.mercyrecordings.com,
and is also now available through www.milesofmusic.com.
The Mercy Recordings site also has a number of other recordings featuring
Razz, including a compilation of hymns which also features Gordon Gano (The
Violent Femmes), Slim Dunlap (The Replacements), and Dave Boquist (Son
Volt). You can legally download some live BRR tracks by going to www.houseofmercy.org,
click on "audio archive" and dig through the archives a bit -
you'll find quite a few tracks with Razz.
The MP3 Rarities seem to disappear off
the server periodically. I suspect my hosting company removes them due to
the large amount of bandwith they require (even though I am supposed to have
unlimited space and transfer). I finally have a broadband connection again,
so at least it doesn't take me so long to get them up and running again!
Attendees of the recent Creekdipper performance at
McCabes Guitar Shop report on new Creekdipper songs about folks like Donald
Rumsfeld, GW Bush, and Sen. Robert Byrd. Mark Olson confirms the new
Creekdipper record is done and is called "Political Manifest". No
word on a release date or label.
February 5th, 2004
The 2004 Spring European Tour is starting to come

Fargo
Records, a French record company, has released "Creekdippin'
For The First Time", a compilation of the best tracks from the first three
Creekdipper albums, along with three bonus tracks. The record is available
through Amazon UK
and Glitterhouse Records - both will ship to the States.
Mark has completed most of a Creekdippers record which
he hopes to have out sometime mid 2004. He will no longer be on Dualtone and
is currently looking for a new label.
Victoria is also in the process of writing and
recording for a new record and is also without a label.
Vic and Mark will continue to do some one-off dates in
the US and plan to head to Europe in April.
All the old MP3s are back
on-line! New ones coming soon.
Vic will take part in a tribute concert for Randy Newman at UCLA. Check out the details in the tour section.
Two new Los Angeles area dates have been announced for Victoria & Mark Olson & The Creekdippers. Check them out in the tour section.
Lost Highway Records has released "Lost and Found Vol. 1", a compilation CD which features the track "Falling Star" from the first Jayhawks album, the long out of print "Bunkhouse LP". The album also features rare and album cuts from Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams, Johnny Cash, and others.
Jayhawks "Bunkhouse LP" to be
released on CD!
Hidden away on the Lost
Highway Records website is a pretty solid indication that they will be
releasing the long out of print, never-before-on-CD, "Bunkhouse LP".
While I haven't seen any official word on this, if you go to the front page of
the website and click on "Coming 9/23" you will see a fuzzy track
listing for a compilation CD they are putting out called "Lost and Found
Vol. 1". One of the tracks listed is "Falling Star" and it is
described as being from the "forthcoming rerelease The Jayhawks (Bunkhouse
LP)".
Victoria's "Century Plant" is featured in the film "Camp" and on the soundtrack. The film, which premiered at Sundance this year, is a musical and "Century Plant" is sung by the cast. The film saw limited release July 25th and the soundtrack (which features the cast singing "Century Plant") is available now. You can check out the film's website at www.campthemovie.com. You can check out the soundtrack by clicking here:
Vic has contributed a song to the forthcoming Sister Rosetta Tharpe tribute CD "Shout, Sister, Shout".
Vic covers "My Lord and I". Other contributors include Joan Osborne, Michelle Shocked, and Marcia Ball. The official website can be found here: www.mc-records.com/html/rosetta_release.html. The CD releases August 12th and can be pre-ordered through Amazon.Com by clicking below:
Mark Olson and the Creekdippers contributed "Cactus Wren" to the soundtrack for the film "All The Real Girls". The movie premiered at the 2003 Sundance Festival and played mostly in arthouse theaters this past spring. The DVD should be available sometime in August. A soundtrack CD is available, featuring artists such as Will Oldham and Sparklehorse, as well as the Creekdippers. Check it out at Amazon.Com by clicking below:
Here's a picture of Vic and Mark playing an outdoor show
in Minneapolis last week. Click on it for a larger view. (Apologies to
anyone who missed that show...Creekdipping.Com was not aware of it).
A few new tour dates (California) have been added to the tour section.
Here's a (not particularly kind) review from the current tour:
http://www.ljworld.com/section/arts/story/139204
Vic reports that that a new Mark Olson & The Creekdippers record is complete. No word on a title or release date, but it will most likely be released on Dualtone again.
The Creekdippers are on tour in the US for July and August. Check out the dates here!
What's up with the MP3s? I'm in the slow process of switching them over to the new server. 56K really sucks! As soon as that's all done I'll add some new rarities! Sorry I had to pull some of the hi-quality video as I didn't have 3 days to upload it.
Click here to find out what Maria McKee has to say about Vic in this month's issue of No Depression Magazine (May/June 2003)
Some revamping and new additions in the press archive section. Cleaned out lots of dead links and added some new ones.
The Creekdipper camp has been quiet since the end of
their long European tour. As soon as Creekdipping.Com hears any news, you'll
find it right here! In the meantime, if anyone has pictures, set lists,
reviews, etc... from the European tour, e-mail them to webmaster@creekdipping.com
and I'll put them up!
Creekdipper guitarist extraordinaire Joshua Grange is all over the new Eleni Mandell album, "Country for True Lovers".
Oft compared to PJ Harvey, Eleni's new album is a pure country departure from her previous work. Recommended for fans of Neko Case, Kelly Willis, and other such artists. Josh Grange plays all manner of guitars on this album. As one reviewer said, "He's the David Rawlings to her Gillian Welch". Click here to purchase the album from Amazon.Com.
Restless Records has re-released The Jayhawks first major label album, "Blue Earth", with three bonus tracks.

Not sure at this point if they are Mark Olson compositions or not. As soon as I get a chance to hear it, I'll give you a full report! Click here to purchase the album from Amazon.Com.
In other Jayhawks news, alt-pop supergroup The Thorns, featuring Matthew Sweet, Pete Droge, and Sean Mullins, cover the Jayhawks "Blue" on their self titled-debut.
It's a pretty straight cover, but they do add a nice organ part. They'll be playing some dates with the Jayhawks this summer. Click here to order the album from Amazon.Com

Victoria and band will be playing at The Derby in Los Angeles on Friday, April 12th. Show starts at 8pm with Tom Freund and Mike Stinson. Victoria goes on at 10pm. Tickets are $10 and only available at the door.
In the "sorry we missed the boat" department - Creekdipping.Com just learned that Victoria's song "Water To Drink" was featured in an episode of HBO's "Six Feet Under". The episode is titled "Brotherhood" and originally aired July 15, 2001. We'll let you know if and when it is scheduled to re-air!
Victoria was one of the judges for this year's "Independent Music Awards". You can check out the list of winners and hear some clips at www.musiciansatlas.com/body_independent_music_awards.html
March 07, 2002
The official Creekdippers site is back on-line and has moved to http://www.creekdipper.com.
Same design and content as before. You'll find some pictures there and
information on ordering Creekdippers and Victoria Williams CDs, videos, and
shirts!
Looks like "December's Child" has been pushed back to a June 11th release. The Dualtone site now promises a guest appearance from Gary Louris (of the Jayhawks)
Here's the artwork for the new Creekdippers' record, "December's Child", due out May 21, 2002. Click on it to see a larger version. Thanks to Dualtone Records for providing the scan! Check back soon for some MP3 clips.
Vic joined grammy nominees Buddy and Julie Miller onstage at the Roxy in Los Angeles this past week. She gets a mention in the LA Times review, which can be found here: http://latimes.com/la-000014736feb27.story

The Dualtone Records website announces the new Creekdipper record, "December's Child" will be out in May. You can listen to a brief song clip from the album at their website. They also say Kim Richey has a guest appearance on the album, but Josh Grange, who plays on all or most of the album, tells the Vic-List he's not sure whether that is true.

A recent article at HoosierTimes.Com (see the press archive) reports a forthcoming project from Victoria, tentatively titled "I'm Old Fashioned". The project would be comprised completely of covers of old standards. server seems to have disappeared without notice. No one has had any luck getting
information from Junkpile, but a new list has been established at YahooGroups
and many of the old members have already joined. Click here for info on the
new Vic-list and how to join.
